{June 26, 2013}   Floor Stripper-GHB-Reaching Epidemic Level as Recreational Drug

GHB is reaching epidemic level on the recreational scene. Check out this link: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/02/27/2-investigators-date-rape-drug-becoming-favorite-for-recreational-use/
It seems surreal that this drug made from wood floor stripper could be the drug of choice from college students to business people. It doesn’t seem like people are afraid to die as much as they are afraid to live. Like why do you think people are numbing themselves to life? It is a sad commentary on a culture that a barrel drum of liquid GHB sells for a million dollars. Think about $1 million to feed starving children throughout the country. And, a million dollars is nothing in the drug economies. Where is the nation’s social conscious that we see the disproportionate amount of money spent on recreational drug use when there are children starving and dying of diseases all over the planet as well as other atrocities because there is some apparent lack of funding.

The attached link is to an article and film clip on which they show a warehouse with 25 or more drums filled with liquid GHB. It’s going to market…the underground street markets…that get to our children. I have been contemplating what the fate of Americans would be if we simply voted to legalize drugs. Policing and sending people to jail for illegal drug use does not seem to reduce the market for drugs. There is without a doubt a high demand for debilitating drugs that can induce death and are addicting like GHB. How do we keep people from manufacturing GHB when all they need is wood floor stripper from any hardware store. It is so sad and such as waste of human potential. And, then there are all the bystanders who unknowingly become victims of GHB poisoning like my daughter in whose memory I write on this subject, as well as the thousands of other sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and mothers and fathers, who have also died from GHB poisoning.

It seems the war on drugs is another urban myth as it hasn’t reduced the supply or the demand for drugs. For every arrest there are many more recruits (new users and sellers.) It’s as though recreational drug use is becoming a rite of passage for American teenagers. The prisons are full of petty drug users and it costs as much to house one prisoner as it cost to send a child to Princeton for a year. Locking people away for drug use isn’t the solution it is a temporary redirecting. The government spends its money on policing and prisons when what is needs is rehabilitating and reeducating. We are the change we are waiting for. It begins with you. The focus needs to shift from punishment to education and prevention. We teach our children how to read and write but what do we teach our children about surviving the ordinariness of life…the day-to-day…or surviving negative thought patterns… Why not emphasize and teach children yoga and mediation so that in the beginning they develop the strong sense of self…confidence about who they are…their intrinsic value. MAybe then people won’t go looking for who they are like it is something out there they have to obtain…the power…the raise…the next degree…

Everything needed in this life is contained within our own hearts. My heart empathizes with all drug users especially those who fear life and, consequently, look for something to numb like a hit of GHB to enhance them or to get through their day or their night, or maybe they just think of it as taking the edge off social situations but for whatever reason, the thought (the reasoning) is wack. And, that’s just it, taking a poisonous substance is just a thought until you act on it. You can always say “yeah, I could do a hit of GHB, but I choose not to…” That is always a choice every single moment that is available as a choice. People have choices but unless they learn their anchor points as children they become adults who are all over the board and make random, self-destructive choice without considering the other options available. I send love to all. This forum is your platform, find your voice…if you can make a difference in just one person’s life think what a miracle that is…
