{November 6, 2013}   Women can lead and change the world

Remember you are the change you seek, It begins with you.

Try to imagine that in this 21st century [W]omen and girls are still discriminated against and treated as second-class citizens and individuals in many countries across the world. They often have no free choice in crucial decisions for their future lives, if, whom or when they marry, or when and with whom to have children.

In all too many cases they are ‘owned’ by their father, brother or husband, with no property or inheritance rights, and no opportunity for secondary schooling, or loans for investment in a productive activity for income and employment. Child marriage is still rampant, far into the 21st century. Every year an estimated 14 million girls are married before they are 18. DR. GRO HARLEM BRUNDTLAND  http://www.forbes.com/sites/skollworldforum/2013/05/29/it-is-time-to-stop-discrimination-against-girls-and-women/

Archaeological evidence indicates that as far back as the upper Paliolithic period, or 25,000 BC, there existed a Goddess Culture where women were revered and worshiped. There are many artifacts from this period of statutes of women associated with worship. While the Goddess’ ruled as wise priestess and prophet there was peace, prosperity and open celebration of sexuality and women as the “giver of life.” Also, throughout this period the society was matrilineal, only women held title to property. All property passed through them and their “name,” or linage. Although women ruled there was equality and cooperation between men and women. The last Goddess temple was closed 500 BC,

The Goddess Culture was destroyed by warring tribes from the Northern Steeps with hierarchical social orders. The Old Testament and the Koran speak of the killing of women and destruction of entire cities. This was the destruction of a world order, the Goddess Culture and the beginning of a new order. An order ruled by men, with a male deity, with men as priest, with title and name passing through men. It was a hierarchical system to which women became the property of men. http://www.mama.org/exhibits/ancient/goddess/

As far as I can determine, the end of the Goddess Culture, marked the end of equality for women. It would seem that by now, after a few millennial women might have regained their revered status, or at the very least, established equality, and would no longer be condemned as property, but. that is not so. But, woman and girls all over the planet still get drugged, assaulted, abused, left for dead, raped to death, and worse. Women have made strides in the west for equal rights under the law. But, there is still a long way to go to change the existing Culture of Rape and the predatory use of date rape drugs on unsuspecting girls and women.

It begins with every girl, woman and boy to be that change.,,and change the world….
